Book box craft/time to sign up for summer reading programs

Summer vacation has started, so it's time to help my kids get signed up for summer reading clubs.  Our library program kicks off next week, but we were able to pick up our info for book store clubs last week.  My kids participate in clubs at our local public library, Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Half-price Books.  All of them provide kids with great charts and reward their completed charts with a new book.  Big hit at my house, and a good motivator to do some extra reading! One of my favorite websites is Scholastic books.  I used to teach high school English & Journalism classes, and have always found great resources at Scholastic. I discovered their summer reading program last week and my grade school kid is having fun using their website.  Check it out at:     http://www.scholastic.com/summer/kids

I found this cool book box craft made from empty cereal boxes at Scholastic.
First we cut the sides down.

Next we used a glue stick to adhere cardstock to the sides of the box.

From cereal boxes to book boxes:

After the box sides were covered in cardstock, the kids decorated them with stickers, pictures, crayons, and I cut vinyl words out with my Cricut.

It's raining, and nothing beats curling up with a good book
and a cup of coffee on a rainy day!
