Acronym Poetry

Need a fun quiet time activity this summer?  Name poems are great!  I used to have my high school students write acronym poetry using their names as a first day of school activity.  My kids had fun brainstorming words that described them and their interests, and saved a rainy day for us a few weeks ago!

To sweeten the experience, I found these gummy alphabet letters at Target.
"P" is for poetry!

My boys had fun deciding what words to spell, and to eat!

For a Father's Day gift, write a poem for dad!

Now it's time to eat our ABC's!
This book is a favorite, and we've had fun
cutting and shaping fruits/veggies into letters.

"A poem begins with a lump in the throat."
"Writing a poem is discovering."
