4th of July parade: float idea

Nothing beats a parade, and why not have one in your own neighborhood?  Make a homemade float with boxes or ride-on toys!  My kids love decorating their bikes and wagons with flags and signs.  Simple, but fun!  You could add balloons, or even tie Coke cans to the back of the wagon.  We made our sign on the computer, but a painted sign would be so cute!  My kids twisted red, white, and blue pipe cleaners to the top of the sign!  We found the mini flags in the dollar aisle at Target.  My kids used scotch tape, but we'll need to switch to red duct tape before the parade.

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism."

Happy 4th of July!
