Birthday pancakes, plate, & hat - our traditions

Celebrations are on my mind, and we are partying it up this week with two birthdays in our family.  I have a tendency to turn birthdays until birth weeks - can you ever have too much celebrating?  We have a few traditions that are simple, yet important to us:  waking up to birthday pancakes on a special birthday plate while being serenaded - good times.  And the day wouldn't be complete without the birthday hat.

I get hungry just thinking about these pancakes,
made by my very own muscle man.
Love eating the pancakes, and love watching his
muscles flip pancakes...

Our pancakes, a.k.a. flapjacks, lined up.
Like, love, marry this griddle:
given to us as a wedding gift.

The super fun Happy Birthday polka dot plate
my friend Vanessa gave me.
My kids get a kick out of using
it on their big day.

And the birthday hat...
love it!

A few years ago, before my daughter was born,
when it was me and four wild guys living in our home,
my boys threw me a princess birthday party.
Fun, and funny, since I'm not really a girly-girl.
But they took sympathy on me and
the testosterone levels in our house.
They gave me a girly party hat that my daughter and I
wear for our birthday celebrations.

What traditions do you have in your family?

"Fly free and happy beyond birthdays and across forever, and we'll meet now and then when we wish, in the midst of the one celebration that never can end."
(Richard Bach)
