Just Because gifts

My favorite kinds of gifts to give and receive are the
"Just Because" gifts

~ Just because I love you.

~Just because you're my mom, and I picked these dandelions for you.

~Just because you're my friend, and you need some encouragement.

~Just because I'm thankful for you!

~Just because it's not your birthday.

~Just because it's not our anniversary.

~Just because you needed some chocolate!

~Just because I don't need a reason to celebrate our relationship!

~Just because I'm glad you are in my life.

My muscle man gave me these beautiful flowers last week...
Just because.

I've gazed at these flowers all week.  I've thought about giving gifts, and not just presents: the gift of time, the gift of thoughtfulness, the gift of living.  The gift of embracing relationships in life, and not getting caught up in busy, insignificant things.
My chubby-cheeked, joyous toddler stops to smell the flowers several times a day - my reminder to do the same.  My reminder to stop and look around, reconnect.  Breathe.

"Each day provides its own gifts."
(Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor)

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like the shifting shadows."
(James 1:17)
