Make Your Own Pizza Party

'Twas the night before school started
and all through our house,
we're stirring up some fun,
and having a back to school bash!

That's right, we're kicking off the start of school with one of our favorite traditions:
a make your own pizza party

Why not just go out for pizza?

Three reasons:
~making them at home is budget friendly (we have three boys!!)
~we have four kids, two of them toddlers
~we have four kids, two of them toddlers
If you have a toddler, or have ever had one, you understand.

Our tradition:
Make-Your-Own-Pizza
back to school party!

Easy to make and tasty to eat!  We use paper plates so there isn't a lot of clean-up; we need time to get those backpacks and school clothes ready for the first day.

My boys set out the sauce and our favorite toppings:
cheese, hamburger, black olives, pineapple
(we were out of my favorite:  mushroom)

How we made our pizzas:

Opened two cans of biscuits

Rolled two biscuits together in a ball

Flattened the ball into a flat pizza

Baked the pizzas - but removed them from the oven two minutes
earlier than directed (baked for 11 minutes)

Now the fun part:
We sat around the table, and
made our own pizzas using the toppings.
(caution: side of pan is hot!)

After the toppings were added,
we broiled our pizzas for two minutes.
Yummy and easy - leaving us with more time for fun!

Love those chubby toddler fingers:

You can never have too much pineapple!

Pizza Party time!

Guilty...of eating the toppings first!

After our pizza party, we enjoyed a yummy
I Heart School brownie - check the post out here!

A funny book for kids about pizza:
Pete's a Pizza by William Steig.

"You better cut the pizza in four pieces
because I'm not hungry enough to eat six."
