Superstars & Treasure Chests - star behavior awards

One of my favorite Saturday Night Live skits is of Mary Katherine Gallagher (a.k.a. Molly Shannon) - when she takes a tumble, jumps up, and says:  Superstar!  Well, she inspired me, so for the past few years my boys have had superstar notebooks.  Basically, they get a star in their book for superstar behavior.  Get 20 stars (and sometimes this takes a really, really long time), and they get a superprize from the treasure chest.  Inside the treasure chest are things I want them to have, or they'd ask us to buy:  bubbles, sidewalk chalk, travel games, nerf footballs, etc... But the favorite prizes, the ones they choose most often, are the time prizes: as in time with mom, time with dad, another location, or time with a parent and no siblings.  They have figured out the most treasured gift is doing something they love, with someone they love. kids.  I treasure that most too.

The treasure chest and superstar notebooks:

(found these for $1 at the Dollar Tree)

I have the boys make reward cards
for the treasure chest.

My toddler draws pictures that I label for him.

My older boys' favorite rewards:

1)  Bike ride with Mom

2)  Uninterrupted hour of playing catch with Dad
(hard to find at our house)

3)  Cherry slush at Sonic

4)  Eat dessert first

Take a peek into our treasure chest:

Strike a superstar pose!
Thanks Mary Katherine for the inspiration!
(couldn't resist including this picture)

there your heart will be also."
