To make the granola:
Bake 6 cups of old fashioned oatmeal for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
While the oats are baking, stir together the following:
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup coconut (optional)
Next stir the above mixture into the baked oats.
Mix together the following, then stir into dry ingredients:
2/3 cup honey
2/3 cup oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract (sometimes I use almond)
Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees, stirring every three minutes.
I set my time for three minutes, or I get distracted and forget.
Fresh from the oven...and ready to enjoy!
I bag it up and put some in a small container so it is easy for my boys to pour. Out of habit from freezer cooking, I label it too...but wouldn't have too. It doesn't last long enough to worry about the date!
