Truffula Tree cake pops - The Lorax

Truffula Tree cake pops... for my son's 6th birthday:
My guy shares a birthday with Dr. Seuss,
so we munched on treats inspired by his books.
(click here for Cat in the Hat cookies)
I had a little help from a friend...babycakes, a gift from my mom.
You rock mom.  Who wants to roll cake balls for hours when you can just plop batter in this bad boy?

We added some food coloring to melted almond bark,
and sprinkles, of course, to make our Truffula Tree frosting.

Just in time for the newly released movie:
 The Lorax
Read this book as a kid, then a high school teacher, and now again (and again, and again...) with my kids.  Perfect for discussions (and a call to action) of why we recycle, why we plant more trees, why we take care of our resources, and what happens if we don't.

from The Lorax:
"But now," says the Once-ler.
"Now that you're here,
the word of the Lorax seems perfectly clear.
UNLESS someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better.
It's not.

Happy Read Across America Day!
